About

Welcome to Digital Missives

Digital Missives was launched in March 2005, initially as a consultancy in facilities management software implementation and general small business IT support. We’re now into our 15th year of trading and the company has transformed into a fully-fledged software house providing simple solutions to specific problems – typically addressing bespoke requirements within NHS Estates / Facilities departments.

Our flagship system, L8guard, is now helping to manage the risks of legionnaire’s disease in over 125 NHS hospitals and sites across the UK, and is continually being developed and enhanced.

Throughout, we’ve remained true to our core-principal of delivering simple solutions. The most significant causes of failure in the implementation of new systems (electronic or manual) are over-engineering, technical terminology and a lack of understanding of the desired outcome.

At Digital Missives we strive to keep our systems simple. We believe in Information Technology – but to us this means computers are a tool to help people, not to hinder them – and whilst graphic design and impact are important, they’re not worth anything if they add complexity to the operation.

Tim Moore

Managing Director

Having studied Computer Science at Lancaster University in the early ’90s, Tim’s first role was within the Estates systems office of what was then Leeds Polytechnic (now Leeds Beckett University), and whilst working there he was invited to join the team behind Planet G5 – one of the first Windows-based maintenance management systems.

He worked with FDS Advanced Systems (the company behind Planet G5, and later Planet FM and Planet FM Enterprise) for the next 10 years, with roles in product design, process analysis, database engineering and system implementation. In 2005, when FDS was sold, he felt it was time for something new and decided to set up Digital Missives Ltd.

15 years later, he’s still there – a little greyer perhaps, but still directly involved with customers on a day to day basis – following the first principles of the company and continuing to work directly with clients to provide the simplest, workable solutions.

Sue Dancer

Commercial Operations Manager

Sue and Tim first met via a colleague when Tim joined FDS Advanced Systems, in Woking. A few years later, Sue joined the Planet FM team to help organise the logistics of user training and system implementation across the growing customer base. She soon became involved on the promotional side of the business as well, and became known for her forthright opinions on marketing proposals.

In 2013, the opportunity arose for Sue to relocate from Surrey and join the Digital Missives team in North Yorkshire. The timing was right, and since then she has progressed through the company to become our Commercial Operations Manager – not only managing L8guard support on a daily basis, but being the driving force behind the rest of the team – making sure what’s promised is delivered – whether it’s software, training materials, marketing or double-checking the bills (and invoices!) are paid.
